Official End of WWII ~ 31 December 1946

While the actual combat of World War II ended in 1945, the United States officially declared the cessation of hostilities of World War II on December 31, 1946, through a proclamation issued by President Harry S. Truman, marking the end of the war in the eyes of the US government; this proclamation is known as “Proclamation 2714.”
