Well, the National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral, attended by President Donald Trump and others, was less about Jesus Christ and praying for our nation and its future and more about liberal theology and unbiblical agendas and politics. Sadly

We all know why. The Swamp is deep and has infected most of our major American denominations with a feel-good Jesus and political/socially engineered religious messages. Neither of which will save the Souls of humanity or support you and me in our darkest hours. Two of the religions represented wish to, and are in the process of, conquering our nation and its people. (Do you know which ones?)

Sadly, there is a deepening moral decay in our nation, and it is reflected in many religious systems. It was on display Tuesday in the City of Washington. Unfortunately, the election of a new President will not change this moral and spiritual liberalism that Satan has used to undermine America’s historical and biblical beginnings.

What would Jesus Christ say during this National Prayer service?

In this writer’s opinion, Jesus Christ would speak the Truth. Christ’s message would reflect, in part:

There is no social justice; there is only God’s Justice. For example, Christ spoke Truth to the religious order of His time (John 8:44), as did John The Baptist (Matthew 3:7).

Christ also said, “…I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me…” (John 14:6, NIV)….Christ mentions no other religion or way to salvation.

In that day, the Jewish religion had become a business, and Christ, turning over the money changers tables outside the Temple, said, “… my house shall be called a house of prayers, but you have made it a den of robbers…”. (Luke 19:46; Isaiah 56:7; Jeremiah 7:11; Malachi 3:1)

The point? Religious systems can become a Den of Thieves stealing money and Souls from the enemies of God. Even pseudo-religious services.

So, what can we do? As Biblical Believers in Jesus Christ, we need to pray for our nation and our President as God directed (1 Timothy 2:1-2). We must embrace God’s Biblical teachings (in Scriptural context) on Morality, Trust, and Responsibility to each other and our fellow human beings (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We need to pray for the lost so they would choose God’s way over their fleshly desires (Acts 16:31). We need to ask God’s wisdom to be bestowed upon our President and his staff. Granting them discernment by the power of the Holy Spirit to ‘weed out’ the demonic influence and evil moral decay has led us to this point in our nation’s history (Proverbs 2:6; Proverbs 1:7).

America’s people must return to a Biblical moral compass (as best we can), hold each other accountable (iron sharpens iron), and lead those lost persons and fake Christians back to the Biblical Jesus Christ. Only then will America have any hope for a peaceful and God-fearing future. Our Hope is not in social programs or making the lost feel good. Our Hope is only in Jesus Christ, the living Word of God.

March 23, 1798, President Adams prayed for our nation, “…As the safety and prosperity of nations ultimately and essentially depend on the protection and the blessing of Almighty God, and the national acknowledgment of this truth is not only an indispensable duty which the people owe to Him but a duty whose natural influence is favorable to the promotion of that morality and piety without which social happiness can not exist nor the blessings of a free government be enjoyed…”.

March 30, 1863, President Lincoln’s prayer for our nation. “…Whereas it is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord…”.

United States Book of Common Prayer 1928 (sometimes historically attributed to President Thomas Jefferson’s prayer for our nation) “…Almighty God, Who has given us this good land for our heritage; We humbly beseech Thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will. Bless our land with honorable ministry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion, from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties and fashion into one united people, and the multitude brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endow with Thy spirit of wisdom those whom in Thy name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that through obedience to Thy law, we may show Thy praise among the nations of the earth. In times of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in Thee to fail; all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Pray for our nation and its people.
